The shift in command structure begins Sunday morning.

Yashar party chairman Gadi Eisenkot will be guarded by a private security company that operates under the direct instruction of Unit 730, Israel’s domestic security agency. The party confirmed the arrangement in a public statement. This specific unit handles elite security protocols for high-profile figures.

The decision marks a change from earlier assessments by Shin Bet chief David Zini. In August, Zini initially determined that Eisenkot did not meet the criteria for Unit 730 protection. That stance shifted after the Advisory Committee for Personal Security reviewed updated intelligence and threat evaluations in September. The committee subsequently recommended that the Shin Bet oversee the Yashar leader's security details.

Zini approved a broader set of measures for party leaders who hold no public office. These provisions include an intelligence oversight framework, permission for hired security teams to carry weapons, and direct coordination between the Shin Bet and private guards. The Ministerial Committee for Shin Bet Affairs granted Zini the authority to implement these arrangements. That authorization remains in force until the next Knesset is sworn in.

The state has not extended the same protection to every leader who requested it. Yair Golan, chairman of The Democrats, petitioned for similar security coverage. He cited a threat level comparable to that of Eisenkot. The Shin Bet has denied Golan immediate protection at this stage.
