A drone strike on a Dnipro railway station platform killed 14 people and injured 14 others on October 29.

Serhii, chief executive of one city hospital, said seven people were admitted there, six in serious condition. He said some patients carried dozens of shrapnel entry wounds, along with fractures and torn flesh. Two of those patients were in critical condition. Intensive care doctors were working to raise their blood pressure so surgery could proceed. He described one woman who was holding a phone when debris struck her head: the phone was smashed and the fragment lodged in it, which saved her life. Other debris entered her lower abdomen and back.

A second facility received three patients: women aged 56 and 39, and a 19-year-old man. A doctor named Tetiana said they arrived with substantial blood loss, shrapnel wounds and traumatic shock. Surgery followed immediately, and all three are now in intensive care with stable conditions. Tetiana said none of the injured face life-threatening conditions and all will recover. The patients are receiving psychological support because they remain in shock.

Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, said an 11-year-old boy was among the injured. A 40-year-old man had both legs amputated.

Russian forces struck the platform with a jet-powered drone on October 29 while a Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia train stood nearby. Ukrainian Railways said it is conducting a second-by-second review of the event. The company said an air-raid warning had been issued in advance. An evacuation announcement was made on the electric train bound for Zaporizhzhia ten minutes before the strike, and the assistant driver checked every carriage. The train crew evacuated beforehand. Evacuation announcements also sounded at the station, the company said, though many people remained near the train when the strike occurred.
