Washington State Ferries has canceled two overnight crossings at the Mukilteo terminal to fix the terminal apron. The apron is the movable bridge section that allows vehicles to drive on and off the ferry.
The carrier announced the changes on Friday. The canceled trips were the 12:35 a.m. run from Clinton to Mukilteo and the 1:05 a.m. return trip to Clinton. The 11:30 p.m. ferry from Clinton and the 12:05 a.m. departure from Mukilteo served as the final sailings for the night.
Ferries officials did not specify why the apron needed repairs. Regular service at the Mukilteo terminal is scheduled to return on Saturday.
A second round of cancellations is set for Sunday, Nov. 1. The #1 vessel will be out of service for the day to move other vessels for maintenance, repairs, and inspections. This crewing requirement forces the removal of ten specific sailings.
The cuts affect the route between Bremerton and Seattle. Passengers will miss the 4:50 a.m., 7:20 a.m., 9:50 a.m., 12:20 p.m., and 3 p.m. departures from Bremerton. The corresponding 6:05 a.m., 8:35 a.m., 11:10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 4:15 p.m. trips out of Seattle are also canceled.
