Three local services will mark the Remembrance Day period in November, including the final gathering at Victoria Park before site upgrades begin.

Milton residents will participate in three distinct ceremonies this month to honor service members. The schedule spans from Nov. 1 to Nov. 11, with events held at local landmarks and the Legion.
The poppy campaign launched on Oct. 24, with collection boxes currently placed in businesses across the community. This weekly effort precedes the formal services planned for later in the month.
The first ceremony takes place on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Soldiers’ Memorial in Haltonville. A parade will march from Amos Drive to the Haltonville Cenotaph along 15 Side Road. The rural service begins at 1:45 p.m. and includes a wreath laying at the monument located at Guelph Line and 15 Side Road.
The second service is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Victoria Park Cenotaph downtown. The parade will depart from the Milton branch of the Royal Canadian Legion at 1:30 p.m. Organizers note this is likely the final event at this specific site before construction begins. Approved plans call for a new $40,000 veteran’s monument to be built alongside the existing structure. Completion is expected in 2027. Refreshments will be served in the legion club room after the service.
The traditional Remembrance Day Parade occurs on Wednesday, Nov. 11. It starts at the Milton Evergreen Cemetery and proceeds to the cenotaph. The event begins at 10:45 a.m. Attendees are advised to arrive early due to limited parking near the cemetery. The Veterans’ Luncheon follows at the legion banquet hall, with doors opening at noon and food served at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $15 per person and are available in the legion club room until Nov. 1.
