The series is based on Rachel Reid's bestselling book series "Game Changers." It follows rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, who are stars in Major League Hockey. The plot centers on their secret relationship, which unfolds over eight years of ambition and competition.
Promotional materials describe the characters as bound by a magnetic pull and a years-long journey of love and denial. They must decide if their relationship can survive in a fiercely competitive world. The series has generated high levels of social media activity since its release on Crave.
Cast additions for the upcoming season include Emily Hampshire, who starred in "Schitt's Creek." Edvin Ryding, known for "28 Years Later," and Sabrina Jalees, seen in "Black Mirror," have also joined the project. These actors are confirmed for the next season of the show.
