Pueblo residents can expect a sharp change in weather conditions this weekend as a cold front sweeps across the state. The city will record a high of 80 degrees on Friday, October 23, before temperatures plummet. Forecasters indicate that weekend highs will fall into the 50s, marking a drop of 20 to 30 degrees from the Friday peak.
Morning temperatures in the 50s will give way to afternoon warmth as clouds break apart. Sunshine is expected to return along Interstate 25 around 10 a.m. The front is advancing from the west, bringing increased cloud cover and potential for storms farther south. Rain chances on the south side of Pueblo are currently between 10% and 20% for Friday.
The weather shift will impact surrounding communities with varying degrees of warmth and precipitation. Colorado Springs will see a high of 73 and a low of 47. Canon City faces a 20% to 30% chance of afternoon showers, with a high of 75. Woodland Park will be cooler, with a high of 58 and a low of 39. The Tri-Lakes area, including Monument, is forecast to reach 69 degrees before dropping to the 50s on Saturday.
Farther south, Walsenburg and Trinidad are expected to reach their warmest days of the week, with highs of 73 and 74 degrees respectively. These locations will also see weekend highs fall into the 50s. The eastern plains may see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunny start, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Mountain areas will see highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s.
Lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede. The front will continue to move through Friday and into Saturday morning, driving the temperature decline. Saturday's high in Pueblo is expected to reach only the 50s.
Conditions are expected to calm down next week with sunshine and partly cloudy skies. Temperatures will gradually warm into the 60s. The preliminary outlook for Halloween calls for dry weather and temperatures in the 50s and 60s, though this forecast could change.
