Apple will release iOS 27.2 next week. This update follows iOS 27.1, which 9to5Mac notes was restricted to the iPhone Duo. As a result, iOS 27.2 serves as the primary software update for the wider iPhone lineup.
One major addition extends Dual Capture to group FaceTime calls. The feature launched in iOS 27 for one-on-one chats. It allows users to show their front and rear cameras at the same time. By tapping the Flip button, the rear camera goes live while the front camera remains active. The new update makes this capability available in group calls.
Apple also reorganized the Apple Podcasts app. The Up Next queue at the top of the Home tab is being split into two distinct sections. The first section is called New Episodes and lists the latest releases from followed shows. The second section is Continue Playing. It sits below New Episodes and holds shows that a listener has started but not finished. A 9to5Mac writer tested the beta and said the new layout helps users keep better track of their listening habits.
The Apple TV app on iPhone is getting user profiles for the first time. Profiles have previously been available on tvOS devices. After updating, users will see a profile selection screen when they open the app. This screen can be turned off in settings. Once a profile is active, the app adjusts its content recommendations to match that specific viewer. If a child’s profile is selected, the app only displays age-appropriate series and movies from Apple.
According to 9to5Mac, this setup helps keep an adult’s viewing queue clean. It also prevents children from seeing unsuitable material when using a parent’s iPhone. The outlet reports that iOS 27.2 includes new features in six iPhone apps in total.
