Samsung will release one last foldable phone this year in China. Leaker Ice Universe says the Galaxy W27 launches on October 29. That date is six days from today.

The device features a glossy blue back and gold accents around the triple-camera array. Ice Universe shared an image of the phone. The design matches the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The specifications also align with that top-tier model. This follows a yearly pattern where Samsung rebrands its best foldable for the Chinese market. These China-only variants usually include special packaging and extra styling.

The choice of the Ultra model stands out. Samsung skipped the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. That standard model has a new shape that customers are responding to. Instead, the W27 is built on the wider Ultra format. This aligns with a growing trend in China. Huawei has sold wide foldables for years. Xiaomi recently released a phone with a similar form factor.

In 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition had a wider release. That device served as a bridge to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. For 2026, the company is sticking to its usual regional strategy. The W27 acts as the final release for this generation of hardware.

Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a hit. The company notes that the iPhone Duo has drawn attention to its foldable lineup. Analysts predict foldable display shipments will rise by 44% in 2026. This increase is driven by the arrival of wide-format devices. Samsung has also updated several Galaxy phones to Android 17.

The company has multiple new foldables planned for next year. If the leaked date holds, the W27 will be the last device from this current cycle. The release will be limited to China. Other markets will wait for the next generation of hardware.
