OnePlus has begun distributing stable Android 17 updates to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4. The release marks the official transition of these devices from OxygenOS to ColorOS.
The company originally scheduled the first batch of updates for October 29. The current rollout in India began on October 23, which is six days ahead of that planned date. This initial wave is limited to the OnePlus 15 smartphone and the Pad 4 tablet.
OxygenOS served as OnePlus's global interface for years. It started as a lightweight skin for Android but gradually became a version of Oppo's ColorOS. When OnePlus reduced its global operations, it announced that OxygenOS would be phased out. Existing devices were expected to receive ColorOS updates instead.
The new software is built on Android 17 and has been in beta testing for some time. OnePlus stated that the update focuses on AI integration and seamless movement between tasks and devices. The company described the goal as making technology feel natural rather than requiring user configuration.
A second wave of updates is scheduled for October 30. That release will include the OnePlus 13. Other confirmed devices for the update include previous generation flagships and various models from the Nord line.
The update is expected to reach other regions in the coming days. No specific dates have been announced for markets outside of India beyond the October 30 follow-up for the OnePlus 13.
The software change follows a period of operational shifts for the brand. Reports indicate that the OnePlus 15 sold out in the United States after the company scaled back its global presence. OnePlus has also introduced the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.
